Montage Palmetto Bluff

Montage Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, SC

The Montage Palmetto Bluff recently received its Forbes 5- star rating and is located just outside of Savannah, it’s driving distance from so most cities in the Southeast.  The Rogers family took off for a long Labor Day weekend to see what all the fuss is about!

We are a family of 5 with kids ages 8, 6, & 4, so when we take a family vacation it’s typically to the beach.  We decided to do something different for a change this Labor Day to see how our kids behaved in a high end resort, or if we would be sent home.  With kids, it can go either way!  The Montage is magical in that it has achieved the perfect balance of family resort and couples resort.  It has 2 adult pools and 1 family pool.  I kept thinking that I want to come back here with the husband to have the adults only version also!  The accommodations are setup wonderfully for a family.  You can have a suite with screened in porch or a house with multiple bedrooms and kitchen or a room in the inn.

We all enjoyed riding bikes to the restaurants and pools, and we got a golf cart for a day to get around quicker with our 4 year old.  Labor Day they had events such as a family fishing tournament, bingo and a low country boil.  Each night, the kids rode their bikes to get s’mores by the camp fire.  To top things off for the kids The Montage has a badge program for kids.  They each get a badge for each activity they complete on the trip such as spotting an alligator or climbing the tree house, and let me tell you, this is a HUGE win for kids ages 8,6, & 4!  They had the best time collecting their really nice badges for each accomplishment.

Each day we would start with breakfast at one of the restaurants (chocolate chip pancakes for days) and then do something new like a dolphin cruise, fishing, or checking out one of their massive tree houses. After what felt like a full day, we would go to the pool, and Mom and Dad would toast the day. One of the best parts of Montage was the people we met while we were there. It was such a friendly place, and our kids got to meet new friends from all over the country while we had happy hour with their parents. And to me – that’s a successful vacation!!!
