High Livin’ at the High Hampton Inn

High Livin’ at the High Hampton Inn

The reimagined High Hampton Inn in North Carolina opened this spring, and to my delight, the short drive from Birmingham made it the perfect Birthday & Mother’s Day getaway. For many decades families have been coming to High Hampton and enjoying the great outdoors and the simplicity of the High Hampton.  When the property was sold, many were curious to see what the future held for the Inn.

Fast forward to spring 2022, and High Hampton has been updated – an air-conditioned Inn (whew!) and added fabulous cottages for families.  A wonderful pool & hot tub overlooking the lake and mountain are a bonus.  Guests can enjoy the amenities of the club: golf, tennis, pickleball, and a clubhouse.

Our trip to High Hampton was a couples getaway with some old college friends.  We stayed in the Inn, and we had the most amazing room with a view directly of the mountain!  The Blackberry Farm design team was chosen to decorate the Inn, and it was a wonderful blend of bringing the old charm and warmth combined with fun colors.

Rates include breakfast and dinner, and the food was absolutely delicious.  After hiking all day – 4 miles to the top of the mountain, we all enjoyed a beer in the downstairs pub.  We loved that dinner was an elegant affair, and everyone was dressed up for a relaxing meal (most men in sports coats).

The High Hampton Inn is a beautiful couples getaway, and it’s a great addition to the Southeast for a low-key luxury getaway!

With breathtaking views and a relaxed atmosphere, this is a wonderful long weekend vacation.  What I loved is that it’s elegant but not at all pretentious.  The staff is helpful, but not always in your face, which feels more laid back.

For families, the High Hampton offers a kids camp for a small daily fee.  Mom and Dad can play golf or visit the spa.  Or lie in the amazing lawn chairs and read a book and relax!

St. Barthelemy How does one describe St.Barthelemy in just a few paragraphs?  It’s pretty impossible, actually… the clear blue water, the narrow European roads, the designer shopping, and champagne-popping brunches….to name a few.
