Blackberry Farm

Blackberry Farm in Walland, TN

About four hours from Birmingham, nestled in the Smoky Mountains is a beautiful retreat, like no place I’ve ever visited. Blackberry Farms is an escape from the city, allowing time to slow down while enjoying award-winning food and wine. This 5-star resort was just what Little Travel Mama needed!

Halfway through quarantine during the COVID pandemic, I sadly canceled our 10th-anniversary plans to St. Lucia. After being trapped in our house with three kids for what felt like a year, I knew that I’d need a trip away without kids by July, and what place is better to social distance than a farm in Tennessee? And so, we were off from the July Alabama heat to the Tennessee mountains. Our three kids were in our rearview mirror, and after virtual teaching, for a few months, there was no looking back for this Mom and Dad!

Blackberry Farms has both hotel rooms and houses to stay in, and both couples and family’s vacation here. You may even run into Martha Stewart or Nicole Kidman. We had planned and booked horseback riding and a massage for me while my husband went mountain biking with a guide. We also spent a lot of time by the pool relaxing. The resort has golf carts that you can borrow at any time, so we had fun at night driving to dinner and checking out the expansive property and the gorgeous views. We stayed in a King Historical room, and the view from our window was breathtaking. The rooms, decorated in a traditional style, are incredibly comfortable. The mattresses are so comfy; you can order one from their website.

Blackberry Farms is something out of a coffee table book or magazine. It should be the cover!
